The time has come. It has taken me years of training and experience. But I’m finally ready to jump.
I’m publishing my website MiamiJenny Mind-Body Coaching and posting my first blog entry.
Phew!!

The truth is I wanted to jump earlier. For years, life has been pointing in this new direction, but I have been battling a strange force that kept me in my comfort zone. I’ve come to learn that such force is pretty common. Some call it the Inner critic. I like to call it Resistance.
“The more important a call or action to our soul’s evolution, the more Resistance we will feel toward pursuing it,” says author Steven Pressfield in his book The War of Art.
Once the culprit was identified and named, my inner fact-finder kicked in and I researched the hell out of it. Still, I made no progress. I remained stuck. It turned out my research was a form Resistance.
As I write this, I continue to battle Resistance. It’s showing up as seemingly good arguments to postpone my work. It is pretending to keep me safe, but by now I know the result will be stagnation.

Resistance’s voice in my head is sounds like this…
“It’s too vulnerable to put myself out there,” my mind screams.
Never mind Mind-Body coaching is all about being authentic, and in my case, counteract the tendency to hide. Plus, I’m also a journalist. Communicating is my thing.
“What is Mind-Body coaching, anyway? No one would understand!”
Mind Body Coaching is life coaching with an emphasis on the mind-body connection. This mind-body component, has been the missing link that has allowed me freedom by showing me how to make multiple, compounding small corrections that have moved my life consistently from anxiety-ridden to one that has more joy, balance, health, and clarity.
“Who am I to be out there offering new perspectives?”, my mind insists.
Who am I not to? Since I can remember I have been pursuing self-growth and actualization. I’m genuinely interested in sharing all the things I would love to have known back in the day to make my life easier, healthier, more abundant and connected.
“I’m obviously not perfect, so If I put myself out there, I am a hypocrite.”
No one, and no life is perfect, and perfection is never the goal. The goal is showing up in our lives authentically, so that we can experience “the privilege of a lifetime,” which according to mythologist Joseph Campbell is being “exactly who you are.”
“There’re already so many voices out there. Does the world really need one more coach?”
Every one of our voices is unique, and we need many voices out there to speak to many different idiosyncrasies. People like to connect with those they can identify with, and with whom they share values. I believe all of us are craving connection – real connection- and that inspires me to get out of my comfort zone to create content we can connect around.
“Do I even have the right credentials?
Harvard-trained Sociologist and one of my mentors, Dr. Martha Beck, says we must “Live it to give it,” and that is exactly what I have been doing since 2014 when I finished my first life coaching training. I have used all the concepts and tools I learned in coaching, therapy, positive psychology and multiple other disciplines to auto-correct my life and to coach my clients. I know it works.

Do you have similar thoughts when about to embark on a new project or take steps towards a new goal?
If you find yourself using similar arguments -or even better ones- to postpone your work… DON’T.
First, see this force for what it really is: Resistance, a form of FEAR. Once you acknowledge there is fear behind the Resistance, follow the only solution there is: “FEEL THE FEAR… AND DO IT ANYWAY.”
I hope you join me in this new adventure. You can sign up to my newsletter here. I’ll share perspectives on health, career and relationships, with emphasis on the mind-body connection.
